    Arnold Newman passes

Arnold Newman passed away today at aged 88

Not generally a LF photographer, but a wonderful portraitist none the less.

The couple of times I met him he was both gracious and funny

    That's sad news, indeed.

He was THE master of environmental portraiture in my opinion. I was under the impression that he _did_ work primarily with LF...

In any case, you're very fortunate to have met him, Tim.

I picked up a copy of his book "Five Decades" a couple of years ago at a used bookstore, and was pleasantly surprised to find that it was a signed copy.

Arnold shot quite a bit with 4X5 but he used everything smaller than that also.
