macro photo/zeiss luminar mounting to linhof 4x5??

To follow up on David Goldfarb's recommendation of press shutter, used Copal Press #1 shutters from the Polaroid MP-4 -- the ones marked Polaroid MP-4 on the front, accept no substitutes -- are about the best value going among press shutters. The Copal MP-4 shutter has the usual Copal #1 "open shutter" lever, so is easy to use. And since it has no diaphragm its useless for anything but front mounting lenses, so commands low prices. It is the reason I hang my Luminars (and many other lenses too) in front of a #1 instead of a #0.

"recommendation of press shutter, used Copal Press #1 shutters"

The most internal mechanical vibrations in a shutter are in the Copal Press, Prontor Press and similar shutters. If you want to have the least mechanical vibration of any shutter then look for a Prontor Professional Shutter.

I do have the correct shutter (Synchro-Compur) as well as the ring adaptor for the RMS threads from an original Linhof Makro-Tubus/Macro-Tube - I was not planning on selling but also am not using so I will sell the shutter & ring to you for a good price or willing to trade for ...

Just be aware that there are non-RMS Luminars out there. These are referred to as Epi-Luminars and have more specific scientific applications. Bob is referring to the Epi when he discusses the straight tube and draw tube Micro lensboard above. In short, the Epi's are not RMS screw mounts and would not fit on a Makro-Tubus. For info on shooting with the Luminar, the early 60s Linhof books are informative, particularly the Industrial Photography book. There is also a Zeiss booklet on Microphotography that you can find copies of on Ebay and elsewhere.
