    Gordon Parks passes away

    I just heard the news.

A real loss to the photography world.

While I haven't seen much of his work in recent times, I've always been impressed by not only his photographs, but also his efforts in encouraging young photographers. A classy gentleman who will be missed!

    First Miles Davis....now Gordon Parks...

This is a sad day indeed. A renaissance man in the truest sense of the term.

A sad event, but one we all will face. Unlike many others, at least Gordon Park's legacy will live on in his classic phtotgraphs. His legacy will never fade!

The item on the local news radio station this morning identified him solely as the director of Shaft - nothing about the rest of his long and eventful life...

i had no idea he was the director of shaft ... always just assumed that was a different gordon parks. amazing.

i'm not surprised that's what he's remembered for in the soundbites. a movie like that gets someone a lot more attention than photojournalism ever does.
