Test image for b&w digital calibration

I am trying to do a book with the Lulu publishing service. My first proofs were magenta. I need to figure out the right correction to apply, which would be very easy if I had a test image with samples of different corrections - sort of a color wheel for black and white. Anyone have any ideas or links?

They don't supply an ICC profile for their press?

It would help to know more about what you're doing. Color images, color book? B/w images with magenta metamerism? What is Lulu's printing process?

Sorry - reading your SUBJECT sheds a little light.

If this is b/w images done with color printing process, metamerism will constantly plague the viewing experience (the color temp. of the light source being the variable). The only way around it is with a duo/tri/quadtone printing process.

No, but it was a good hint. I think I found one at their printer's site.

I know this will not be a perfect solution, but I have seen an acceptible book from them the Rangefinder folks did.

Ed: I have a book of my own b/w images printed by SharedInk (color process). It is very acceptable, yet green metamerism plagues it under daylight (although most don't really notice). I don't think anyone can help you here but you. Adjust your files until they proof well under your desired light sources, but even then it's still a crapshoot.
