    Scanner for LF & MF

    Greetings,

I am looking to get a scanner to scan 4x5, 6x9 and 6x7. Has anyone used the Microtek 1800f, i800 or i900? I am told they do a fairly good job but the carriers do no keep the film flat. The same is the case with the Nikon 9000 unless you use the glass carrier which cuts down the effective dynamic range. I know the i800 Microtek has an improved carrier but also you are also scannning through glass

If money was no concern I would get a drum scanner or an Imacon but I haven't worked out my get away plan from the bank heist yet.

    Thanks for your help

George do a search on scanners in this forum as there is a ton of information already posted. This topic is getting old!

There's a bunch of stuff in the archives about the Microteks and about Epsons and Canons as well. There's also a scanner comparison article on the front page.

you want a good image then is better to have a good scanner. I have a crosfield 636 to digitize my trans. and I learn how to use oil mounting, with this I can see film has much better quality.
