I want to stick an auto flash like a Vivitar 283 on my Technika - any suggestions for a cheap bracket? I cannot stick it in the shoe on top because I am using that for the finder.

Several of the flash brackets intended for MF cameras might work on your Technika. Another option, depending on the size of your finder, is the dual-shoe adapter made by Voigtlander. I use one of these on my Leica M for a viewfinder/level combo:
I often use the simple Norman bracket on my Tech V. To get the flash centered over the lens axis, I've drilled an extra hole on the bar that holds the flash. I usually use a Norman head, which attaches with a 1/4"-20 screw, but if I'm using a shoe mount flash, I have a shoe that attaches to the bracket with the same screw.
The reangefinder bracket on the Technika accepts a Jones E Clamp flash holder. Normally these were made to hold a round flash handle. They may have had other types of E clamps. In any case you can usee the Jones circle clamp and put a piece of plexi in it and drill and tap the top end to hold a flash shoe. Jones was in Hollywood, CA. Don't know if they are still in business.
This bracket was the one that Linhof sold for the Technika.
Thanks, Bob. I keep looking for a Linhof clamp to fit the rangefinder, but with no luck.

No, look for the Jones clamp. That is what Linhof sold and they are identical. Apparently Jones is now owned by Veach. Try asking them if they have any left: http://www.veachco.net/jones.htm
This was my solution:

It works on my Century Graphic as well. I made it from a few cheap pieces of hardware and stuff out of my photo junk box. I have a second hot shoe for the top that has a bi-post cord on it. Makes a great handle as well, especially for the Century Graphic -- the Linhof gets a bit heavy to hand-hold.
Mark - great work! Know anything about that clamp? That looks like the piece I need. As for handholding the Linhof, the anatomical grip helps, but free weights help as well.:-)

Mark,
Once again. That is part of the Jones E Clip bracket but an older version.
I salvaged the clamp from an old flash (I think it was an old Heiland electronic one), so I am not sure if it was original or not. I removed the ring that was part of the original clamp and used a screw to fasten the remaining piece to the dowel.
