    Paul Shambroom's work

Just came across Paul Shambron's latest "Security" Project

    http://www.paulshambroomart.com/art/homeland%20security/index.html

Although I'd seen his work before (I especially like "Meetings" and also "Nuclear Weapons") I hadn't seen his website

I'm not sure what he used for the Security Project. For the Meetings I know he used mainly 120 film sometimes with something like one of the Horseman panoramic cameras, other times I think a 6x9 view/filed camera

    Paul Shambroom's work

I kind of know Paul. He and I went to the same art school and shared a mutual interest in bluegrass (he shot the cover for an album for a band I was in one time). He was never much of a LF guy, to my recollection. I have not talked to him recently to see if that has changed any recently.

    Paul Shambroom's work

I've followed Paul's work since we went back and forth a few years ago about printing when he was working on the Meetings show and book (If I recall, in the end he used an inkjet to print on canvas and then varnished and stretched the images) - but seeing Joerg's reference reminded me to take a look. Hadn't seen the new work.

How the heck did he get access!?

The Democracy photos are wonderful. I've seen an original at the Eastman House, he must be using at least medium format.

    Paul Shambroom's work

I met Paul at fotofest several years ago, when he was first showing his nuclear work. got to see the full sized prints rolled out on hotel room bed. pretty amazing. One picture was of a trident submarine, with the top half of the tower cut off by the top of the frame. He said he wasn't allowed to show that part of it because it was classified! Really interesting, chilling work.
