Could anyone enlighten me whether Rodenstock Apo-Sironar N 210mm F5.6 (image circle of 305mm) will cover 4x10?
Thank you in advance.

Confortably. The 4x10 format has a diagonal of a little less than 275 mm. Cheers, DJ
the actual exposed area (of a 8X10 half slide 4X10) is 265mm
Hi Chong,
There is a two part article by Kerry Thalman in the last two issues of View Camera about 4x10 format and lenses..Evan Clarke
Hi,
Thank you all for clearing this up for me. I have difficulty in getting hold of VC here in UK. But a friend do subscribe to VC. Will get in touch with him.
Thanks
Chong
According to the article that Kerry wrote the lens you have will cover and can be used with the 4x10 format.
View Camera magazine is available in the UK from Robert White. Get in touch with Ken Abrahams ken@robertwhite.co.uk

The actual image diagonal will vary slightly depending on which holders you are using, but it should be about 265mm plus/minus a millimter or two. All 210 5.6 plasmats dating back to the convertible Symmar cover with varying degrees of movements. I like the 210mm focal length on 4x10. And while it is technically shorter than the film diagonal, I consider it my "normal" lens for 4x10.

Hi Kerry,
I have cut out one of the damaged 8x10 dark slide as described in one of your article. I have used it with my 8x10 with great success. So far I have only been using it with 250mm f6.7 Fujinon and was wondering whether the 210mm will be ok. I know that you will need to centre the lens i.e. shift up to take the top portion and vice versa.

I don't subscribe to VC and haven't seen the article, so at the risk of
being redundant I've included a list of lenses for 4x10 through 210 mm.
There are a few lenses (for 8x10) which will provide enough rise (2+ in)
for architectural or similar applications using the vertical back
orientation, some with moderate coverage, and many 4x5 & 5x7 lenses that
have minimal coverage that may require back movements to supplement
limited coverage.
