where to get help with an Epson 4800 that's jamming

    Hi Everyone
I have an Epson 4800 that has started to jam paper. It's not the print head - because it jams even when I eject the paper.. I was playing around with some of the settings on the front of the printer, and maybe I did something incorrect.
Anyway, I returned everything to the initial settings but it's still jamming. Just before this happened, I noticed very faint lines on the print in the direction of the print travel. I have a feeling something is scraping or too tight.
Anyway, where would the best place be to ask a question on how to fix this myself on one of the web forums.
To get at techie from Tel Aviv from Epson will cost about $250 for just one hour! (they charge an two hours transport and an hours work)
So before I start in on this, I'd like to try myself.
    Thanks everyone!

Check the platen gap, make sure it has enough vacuum, look for any obstructions in the path, and maybe clean the rollers. It’s hard to say without seeing where it’s jamming at. You may need to watch the paper feed through and see what’s causing it to hang up. I really haven’t had that issue on any of my Epson printers (9880 and P9000), but I did have an issue once with the bottom of my transparency film lifting up and hitting the print head for the first inch or so. It was solved by increasing the vacuum pressure.

If you're the kind of person who would never think twice about rebuilding a Holley 4 barrel carburetor, I've a 4800 with a head that I'm convinced will never print again. Perhaps you could make one good one out of two. But alas, shipping these days would far exceed the value of one that actually would work.
