    DIY Dry Plate Storage Box?

Anyone have ideas for a DIY solution to store dry plates? I have been shooting a lot of new and vintage dry plates and I am starting to think about long term storage and protection of them. If you have any photos of something you have done or know of a link, please share.

    Thanks!

I'm thinking about this too. Right now I have thirty 6.5x9cm glass plates as a start.

An Out-Of-The-Box ides (or maybe just off the wall) . . .look at products designed for holding and storing fine chinas. Caterers have to be able to bring in plates for a hundred settings or more . Maybe there is something there. Shipping/moving companies may have something other than cardboard and wrapping paper too. I don't really know this, I am just brain-ranting here.

Let us know what you do.

There are only three types of mounting flanges; too big, too small and wrong thread!

My cheaper approach to plate storage is to just stick them in print file sleeves intended for film negatives and keep them in a binder. Granted, most of my plates are aluminum, but I shoot some glass from time to time and they don't seem to be any worse for the wear

Funny you mention that. That is exactly what I am doing for now. The binder gets really heavy very fast and then I am worried about the plates stacked on top of each other over the long haul, but maybe that doesn't matter as much as I think. I am continuing to research and explore ideas. Thanks for your suggestion.
