Durst 1840 Problem - Delay for shutter and lamp

    Hello,

I just recently got a Durst CLS 1840 and everything seems to be working as expected except that when the timer expires or when the lamp is toggled on / off, the lamp continues to stay on for about 10 seconds before shutting off. My suspicion is that there is something wrong with the EST 1000N power supply at the delay circuit.

This is what I've read in the repair manual:

[... The first of these, IC9a, (C 34, R 67, R 68 produce the delay) opens the shutter about 0.8 sec. after the lamp has been switched on (M11). After the end of the exposure time the second monoflop IC 9b (C 33, R 64, produce the delay) is activated and turns off both shutter and lamp with the same delay of 0.8 sec.)]

If this is the problem, does anyone know a repair person near NYC who might be able to help me or supply me with another EST 1000N?

I have found a EST 2000N for sale, is there a difference between the 1000N and the 2000N?

    Many thanks,
    Josh

If unable to trace the circuit and find the faulty component, I'd not hesitate to get on of these while still available:

    Thanks for your recommendation.

Is there a difference between the Durst EST 2000N and the EST 1000N?

The CLS2000 head uses a 220V 2000W lamp, whereas the CLS1840 head uses a 120V 1000W lamp. I don't know if any of the circuit boards are the same.

    Thanks IC. Very helpful info.

I also wanted to ask if these little switches on the shutter circuit board are supposed to be in positions as they are posted in the pictures below when the shutter is closed? One appears to be making contact and the other in a neutral position.

    Thanks again!

Unfortunately, IC is the only person I know who can answer that question. My Durst SM-183 is completely manual with a condenser head. When I looked for an 8x10 I purposely went DeVere so I wouldn't have to deal with the 1970's Durst electronics. Completely manual, and I like it that way. My knowledge of circuits is sorely lacking.
