    Hello from Germany

    Hej,

I'm Erik, a photographer who is a bit fed up with the arbitrariness of digital photography even though (or maybe because of it) it's my daily work as a freelance photographer in Northern Germany - even though I've also learned analog photography from 35mm to 4x5" in photo school ....

A step in the opposite direction is now my love for wet plate collodion photography which will start in Sept. (before that too much digital work from clients :-D).

    The LF-gear will consist of:
13x18 FKD camera with Industar 210 and a Voigtländer No. 1 (early Euryskop version from approx. 1882)
18x24 no name camera with Industar 300 and a no name Petzval lens from approx. 1885

Also used for wet plate: a Mamiya RB67 with Polaroid back.

You can find more of my work at:

    Collodion:
    Homepage: https://www.kollodium.com (starts Sept. 2018)
    Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/kollodium

By the way: If you need translations from German brochures - just ask

    Erik,

Those are really nice. Your models seem totally at ease with you. Is that you behind the camera at the top of the page? Is there a governmental censorship thing with the strategically placed masks? Or are you being a nice guy and giving the girls a little privacy?

Great work and welcome to the forum.

Thank you . It is important that they feel secure before my camera so that they are able to allow me to look behind their façade.

Which of the 6 pages I mentioned do you mean? :-)

Which images do you mean? "Real" censorship is only on my Facebook and Instagram account. On my main page there is nothing censored since it's not needed in Germany just because of nudity ...

It must have been the Instagram account under ‘normal work’.

Erik, you have impressive images in your gallery...

    I use a borrowed FK 13x18...

Just let me point something about philosophy, while it may be seen an step in the opposite direction ( collodion has no wifi tethering ) it is not necessary to see a wooden camera as the counter to another thing, personally I was starting to compare digital vs analog but I found that was only a mental limitation to me.

Then I rediscovered Sally Mann's work from another point of view...

Having seen your work I can predict that you'll get a lot of fun in that journey, with only playing movements in portraiture you have an entire new world to enjoy...

And thank you Andrew Plume and Pere Casals. Pere, I'm indeed curious where the collodion journey will lead me and I can't wait to start shooting in mid august :-)
