Re: questions about the Durst Laborator G184

    Thanks IC,

I actually really have to thank you, your thread on your L1840 makes things easier for the rest of us.

I am hoping on doing a little photo journal on it.

My darkroom is presently just a large, unfinished quonset hut, so my plans are to build a room around the enlarger to suit it.

There is a chance I will also be downsizing my enlarger collection from 4 to just this one and my Beseler 23C while I am at it.

I picked up part of it today. My car could have fit the enlarger, however it also comes with 8 condensers, a 11x14 print washer more trays than I know what to do with, a lifetime supply of bulbs ( I hope ) and everything I need to print from 35mm to 8x10.
Here is a look in my car.

I will be coming back in 2 or 3 weeks for the rest.
It is in excellent condition with the exception of the table, I will post photos when I assemble it. I built my own table for my 138, and will copy the design.

I also bought her Kodak 2D 8x10, again in excellent condition.
It looks like there is a fair amount of history with this equipment, possibly including a photo made on it hanging on a Prince's wall.
I will have more to share in 3 weeks or so.

I am still surprised how big this is. Before I bought it I had only seen one, and that is sitting in a masters darkroom.

The top section could use some restoration work, however it is 100% functional.

At this point I will probably just clean, wax and lubricant everything and may just restore it if I am ever bored sometime in the future.
My next week off is the second week of July (and every second week after that until October ) so my next update will probably come then.

Yup it’s a biggie. No one said Durst made little! Glad you got it! The table attachment is different on the L-184 than the L-138. I’ll post a photo of it when I get home.
