5X4 Neg, from a digital file

Not loving the time needed, to print, in the darkroom, (Dodging, Burning) I had a B/W Neg, made, from a Digital file.
This file, was previously "Corrected", in "Lightroom". The resulting "Neg", was very nice, and should be very easy to print!
But, not having a "Darkroom", yet, I don't realy know.
Anyone have any experience, with this?
    Thanks,... Geoff.

    hi geoff
i do this sometimes for cyanotype and sun print making.
i take the inverted file and go to a xerox shop and have them print it on
overhead transparancy film, or / and the cheepest thinnest xerox paper
they can put in the machine. the OHP film gets contact printed and all's good
the paper negative .. sometimes i wax it with paraffin sometimes i just do a contact print without
    wax .. never have troubles..
he OHP film is about 75 cents / 8.5x11 the paper negative is about a 5cents
    good luck !

Dodging and burning is about as easy as it gets printing. How on earth do you know if your "corrected" digital version will be any more efficient than the film
original is you've never attempted to print that yet? If you have such an aversion to darkroom work, maybe you should contract someone to print for you.
    But whatever.

    Hi Willy,
And thanks for your extremely "Informative" reply. It must have taken you many years of learning, to be able to offer such sound, and valuable, advice. I often think, people, "like you", (Who give their time, and experience, to help fellow Photographers, like me, with their request's) are "Selfless" and, "Considerate", human beings. Very well done!
I look forward, to hearing from other, "Members".
    Geoff.

There are basically about three or four ways to go about this IMO.

One if you are thinking of making silver contact prints then an inkjet neg contacted to matt paper will work.
If you are thinking of making silver enlarged prints then you need to get a LVT image made, I can forward vendor in NY if you wish
If you are thinking of making alternative prints in contact then inkjet negs are fine.

At my shop we make silver enlarged negatives from digital files and then contact them to fibre base paper... All dodging , burning, contrast control etc done in PS. ( this is for show work only as the setup to do this
    is quite extreme.

Also I print directly from digital files to silver paper up to 30 x72 inches but this takes all the work out of your hands.

    Hi Bob,

Why matte paper specifically? Is there some reason glossy doesn't work? And is this just an issue with an inkjet neg? Just curious.

I have yet to get around to getting some LVT negatives made. I have a stack of images to do, from digital files or film negatives that have issues that were corrected on the digital scan.

Silver Glossy will work , but the matt paper is more forgiving in the subtle tonal separation than gloss. I know many who print lith prints from inkjet negs. I make silver negs for when I am printing glossy warmtone and I do see a difference.

Its not as dramatic as one would be but for the print sniffers it may make a difference.

Ian Murmansky (sp) in New York makes them for people I know.

I prefer matte or semi-matte papers, but lately I have started to really like Ilford Galerie - which they don't make in matte.

I will message you the place I found and have discussed LVT with.

I use Ilford Galerie in the lambda and its is wonderful for nuetral black and white work... but I must say I have gravitated to Matt Paper.
