Stieglitz is still dead, so he'll work cheap. Same with the rest of them, except for the grad student, who is alive but will work cheap anyways.

I work cheap, too, at least compared to those big names, and don't have classes all the time like the grad student. And I'm not even dead! I'd need some relocation assistance, though...
If a contact print at arm's length is too small to see, you need a bigger camera. :D

that sounds like about the level of agreement you'd get from a real university search commitee, so i think you did well.

Actually, I think most search committees would chose the one who couldn't teach for squat, with demonstrated evidence of his/her INability to connect with students, and no interest in the learning/teaching process. The attractive candidates (to them) would be those with "national exhibitions" and a "terminal degrees" from a really special art schools that the "prestigious university" wants to emulate. Sad, but it happens all too frequently.

Jon, I know it can seem that way, but in reality there are so many applicants to any teaching position that you can probably count on at least 50 of them meeting the requirements of national exhibitions and terminal degrees from art schools. So it's not that unlikely that among those there will be a few who have demonstrated the ability and willingness to teach well.

    "Stieglitz gets the job."

On behalf of all of us who weren't hired, I demand to know who he slept with to get the position...
