    Jac,

Thank you of course steel is an alloy. You are right the tightening tread should be a finer pitch. It was an upgrade from my flat sheet metal spanner. I had a lens in a lens board with a recess in the rear that the flat sheet spanner would not work. The one from Grimmes worked.

My spanner wrench. Had it for some 30 years; have no idea where I got it. Maybe someone can identify it. L

I have been meaning to ask you all I now own a lens that is longer or deeper than both of my spammer wrenches. Any advice? I have the two spanner wrenches sold by B&H.

I once made this to get at the bottom of a Mamiya Press 150mm:

Nothing fancy, a piece of brass tube, cut a radial saw slot and fit a piece of flat brass. File flat piece until it just enters the slots. Hole at the top is to put a piece of bar through to get more grip. Just take care that the lens element is completely below that flat piece!!!!!!
