Here's the first page of 4. Big rant.

Randy: thanks for that. . . .bummer.
Well "saving a few bucks wasn't the point for me. We don't rent housing or lease cars. Leasing/renting works for many folks, but that's not what we do. It irks me that software is not a thing that can be owned like a book, but a tool hat we must have permission to use.
Looks like I will have to go the cloud subscription route after all.
$h!+ (with the deepest intensity of feeling)

There are only three types of mounting flanges; too big, too small and wrong thread!
I'm glad you can 'afford' what you need.
I don't like rent or lease either.
The succeeding pages in the Adobe warning included and I paraphrase, 80% of non-Adobe files and CD/DVD are counterfeit copies produced outside the USA and often contain added malware and spyware.
Buyer beware indeed.
I won't pay for cable or any such ripoff, but now gladly pay for CC and use it every day.
You can buy the lease by the year...
That article IMO is a bunch of fear-mongering. I've bought second-hand software w/ transferred licenses on eBay...
If you need Elements 14 just look it up on eBay and click the "used" option on the left. First result, a boxed copy with serial number:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/ADOBE-PHOTO...4/183181828368
$56 to your door. No malware in an original boxed copy...all of the counterfeit software I've seen comes on a burned disk with handwritten label and is very obvious, and never has boxes or nicely faked graphics. Sometimes sales with no photos of the actual item will pull that kind of bait-and-switch but I've not had problems with auctions like these for "used" copies. You can always dispute on eBay too if it comes and is a burned disk or if the serial # is rejected.
Speaking of serials, I have installed my copy of CS6 like a half-dozen times between my computers and nothing ever happens. It reminds me of Windows XP, and I had to "call-in" the registration because I had done it so many times over the years with building new computers. They always asked why it was being reinstalled - told them it was a newly-built computer. They said okay and bam I was back in business. Of course I could've been loading XP on computers built for others and abusing my single-use license, which is why my serial was flagged after a few installs...but these days I don't think that happens on software anymore.
Don't get me started on Photoshop CC and how it killed my old CS6 install once...
Sorry...I just don't like Adobe's aggressive tactics on all fronts to convert everyone to CC.
I learned basic imaging software usage back in the 90s using Paint Shop Pro. I used that into the early aughts actually. I have no interest in "renting" a few 0's and 1's. I also don't have a single subscription service at all...and plan to keep it that way.
Fine Bryan.
I don't pay cable or satellite. I pay most bills by the year.
We all subscribe to insurance, utilities, and often buy food by the serving...
I use Mozilla and donate. I donate by subscription to various entities.
I'm pissed my crappy Internet is $60 a month. The cheapest I can get.
I subscribe to Prime since 2002. I use it. A lot. I keep the local truck drivers and USPS in business.
I also am a member of my local Credit Union. No cost. Not a stupid bank,
And a member-owner of the excellent local Food Coop. That cost $10 a month. Best food in the area.
I enjoy Photoshop.
Peace
Drew, if you are a member of Sam's Club see if they have it. I bought PSE 13 from Sam's Club a couple of years ago for $75.
So it is likely that a copy of Elements 14 bought on e-Bay would be legitimate? And I could get it authenticated, activated or whatever by Adobe?
Re. Sams: I will of course look, but I doubt that they will carry a product that is several versions from being current.
