Just inserting a tiny strip of plastic or cartoon of the right thickness in the groove it works centering the 57 film in the 13x18cm holder, and then the sheet is well centered and secured.

Also you can find abundant literature about that in this forum. My CAMBO SC 5x7came with a dozen of 13x18cm holders, so I "converted" 4 holders for the moment, the posted images are in original condition, to show the little margin it remains in one side when the film is moved to the other side.

Also I sprayed one of the holders with 3M Re Mount glue, it also works OK, this is another trick, this also ensures flatness, like if it was a Sinar adhesive holder.

This is my modest DIY amateur real word experience about that.

    Cheers

Yes, Pere, but you are actually customizng the holder - that is something else ...

In their original state the 5x7 and 13x18 holders have different internal dimensions - or the 12x16.5 ones, for that matter.

Some holders require the customization, and some not, this has been debated here. I've shot 57 film in regular 13x18 holders without a problem, but for sure with that small and reversible costumization film is well secured, and and it takes a minute to do it. I guess it also depends on the film manufacturer tolerance.

Just take a 400 grs/m2 cardboard (or equivalent thickness plastic), with a cutter cut 2mm wide strips (or slightly less) and insert that in the groove.

What is for sure is that if you have 13x18 holders you will be able to spend 5x7 film boxes. Will you need to insert 2mm strips in the grooves ? well, this depends on the holders you have...

If one is a Pro and makes his living with 5x7 shots, then please purchase the right holders... of course. An amateur (and learner) like may have to adapt to the gear one has.
