    Timber camera parts suppliers please?

I’ve just bought a lovely timber 8x10 French made timber camera.

It’s a little sad and needs a few new bits. But it’s a great camera with lots of potential. I’m going to retrofit it into a 10x10.

I would really like to know if anybody has a list of recommend timber camera parts suppliers?

Examples of things I’m looking for would be custom bellows, old style brass fittings and timber screws, felt tape etc.

    Thanks

    Luke

Without seeing any photos, I would suggest this is an 18x24cm camera - not 8x10 inch camera. I have quite a few of these - both French and German - and might be able to help.

Walnut (European version) is the most common wood used on French cameras and they usually have Dealer plaques, rather than the workshop maker.

    Hi Steven,

Yes you are correct! I just ran the tape measure over it. It is actually a 18x24cm but I'm fine with that as it will be for wet plate. I'm going to attempt to turn it into a 24x24 as I really like the square format.

It has a plate saying it's a Union camera made in Paris.

If you can help with bits and pieces that would be great.

Would you know what timber those cameras are generally made from? It is a rather light colour.

The colour is very dependent on finish - oil, wax or lacquer - and whether it has been exposed to the sun for weeks/years.
Union doesn't ring a bell, but the same camera may have been sold under another name.

"Turn the bellows" cameras are usually walnut, or sometimes, teak with an oil finish. Photos please!
