What legs to use with Manfrotto Bogen 3039 Super Pro-Head?

I just got my Manfrotto 3039 Tripod head to hold my 4x5 Calumet CC 400. Now, I need the legs for it. Can you advise me on what tripod to get, hopefully not too expensive. Since the head is already heavy, maybe the tripos should not be? Thanks, Pepe

    Ahh, the conundrum!

The heavy 3039 head is meant to be used on a heavy tripod. The lightest tripod I would consider would be the equivalent to the Bogen Manfrotto 3033, 3036, or 3051. A heavy head on a light tripod will cause, in some cases, the tripod to be top heavy, hence unstable if used with the column extended. I've used my 3039 a few times on a Bogen/Manfrotto 3021, but I was wary of the overall balance, never extended the column, and remounted it on my 3033.
    Best,
    Dennis

Thanks. I tried it on my Bogen 3021 and worked, but it moved when I open and close the Graflok to place the film holder. I just ordered a Bogen 3033 as per your suggestion.
