    If your really desperate for a cheap solution a common 50mm step-up filter ring could work. Common filter threads have a 0.75 pitch. Although it likely wouldn't screw onto the shutter enough (i.e. you would be blocked for threading far enough).

    Maybe just nomenclature issue.

    From the Zone VI Enlarger Manual:
    Mount each lens to an appropriate lens board and tighten the retaining rings. Use of a spanner wrench is recommended but not supplied.
    Just type in 50mm 'retaining ring' and see what you get. Looks like mostly flanges which would work too; you can use a flange as a retaining ring.

    Nope...I need a retaining ring. I feel kind of ridiculous for having made such a fuss about this - but it does seem like "back in the day" items like these were much easier to find.
