Good to know.

The full plate version fits book type holders perfectly. This applies to both original holders and down sizing inserts for 12x15" UK made cameras.
Awesome! Glad they finally made it to you.

I should clarify "flaws that nobody likes to see". Not the flaws from being hand coated.

Another very cool announcement! Freestyle Photo has begun stocking J. Lane Dry Plates in sizes 4x5, 5x7, and 8x10!

Currently showing out of stock as I fill the supply pipeline, but please reach out to them to let them know how awesome it is that they're stocking them. If you're in the L.A. area, you can of course stop in and buy them directly.
Other announcements:
Successfully eliminated the annoying "swirly" flaw that cropped up when I scaled up my emulsion batches. The plates going out to retailers and plates from Batch #10 forward will not have them. Thank God for that.
Batch #9 is another experiment in increasing the speed of the emulsion. The results look great (much better than previous attempt), but the base fog is 0.4 and I'm working to reduce that (including making sure any light sources in my workspace isn't causing problems). Still, maximum density is about 3.0, so it has a good tonality range as is and the scans look great. Here is an exposure strip test .. these were taken with a UV Haze filter, so the emulsion is probably effectively more like ASA 12.5 or 16.
I'm happy to share plates of this test emulsion -- hate to see it go to waste -- so let me know if you're interested.

A question.
Again...
Looks like retail pricing is the same as Etsy. I know retail eats profit, but it also vastly increases audience and customers.
Which way do you want us to order? Freestyle for exposure or direct from Etsy?
And my last question, when can you quit your real job? Don't answer this last question!
Congratulations!
Hi Randy,
Of course, it is entirely up to you but I encourage you to buy from either Freestyle or Blue Moon for the sizes they offer. This will help them grow sales of the plates with all the goodness for the community which that entails. For sizes they don't offer and of course for custom orders, feel free to contact me or go through the Etsy site as appropriate.
Regards,
Jason
