Is there a run-down somewhere on the various holders to look for?

Dig back through the first page or two of this thread...I highlighted what to look for.

Deals do exist. Since Jason introduced his excellent Dry Plates in many sizes, eBay sellers are milking it.
1/4 Plate cameras and glass plate holders are not as rare as other sizes. Nobody wanted them until recently.
Last month I found an 8X10 glass plate holder on eBay that was 'damaged'. Looking closely at the pics revealed only one side was 'damaged' the other side perfect. It was listed as $25 OBO. I offered $20 and got it. Somebody had very carefully removed the light trap cover to get a bit of the trap. The top rope side. The 2 tiny nails were still in the wood cover. The bottom spring backed trap was perfect. I glueed some felt rope from JoAnnes Fabrics and bingo 2 side 8X10.
A few years ago somebody gave me an 11X14 dry plate holder with 10X12 glass plate inserts. 2 sizes in one!
The holder was severely warped about one inch high in a corner. But everything else was VGC, so I have been slowing unwarping it with hot water towels and opposite twist on a flat table with clamps. It's now close enough to flat to insert 11X14 glass plates, use the darkslides and best in a tight spring back. Ready to use!
Next Fall I will shoot both 8X10 and 11X14 Jason L Glass Plates as I have othe priorities right now.
The Viewfinder is the Soul of the Camera
If you don't believe it, look into an 8x10 viewfinder!

I never knew either before I started offering them for sale and folks started asking. Now I probably know as much about the old plate sizes as anybody. Getting to learn new stuff is kind of a fringe benefit of this venture.
They are also the same size as 6.5 x 9. I cut the plates to 63x88 mm and they fit all those.
