It seems there was a reason I didn't dismantle my darkroom a few years ago when I swore off film forever and let go my 8x10 camera along with my Leica M6. Suddenly, I found myself clicking the "BUY" button on eBay for another 4x5 Zone VI camera. In a few hours that camera along with a tripod, head, backpack, film, chemicals and more were on their way to my home.
When I was torturing myself about dropping away from film photography and sending away my camera babies my wife just shrugged and said, "You can always buy another if you need it." And as usually the case -- she was right. Circumstance and opportunity for a new project had me thinking I needed a view camera. Remembering her words, rather than beat myself up about getting rid of the gear, I just bought it again.
After years of shooting digital and printing (lately) with an Epson P800 I'm bringing the darkroom out of mothballs and readying myself for the old rituals.
I still shoot digital for my blog (https:scooterinthesticks.com) entries, but I'm planning to haul the view camera along now to make a road series that I've been pondering for a long time. We'll see what happens. Could be crazy. But that's what dreams and photography are made of...
