    Whole Plate Film

    Hi,
Clearly I didn't order enough Ilford Fp4+ in whole plate, during the special order and now I'm almost out! Does anyone know of a place that stocks this size (6 1/2 x 8 1/2)? My usual source is Badger Graphic but there is none listed. I suppose if I can't find any I'll buy 8x10 and cut it down but that is throwing $20 per box away.

    Hi Chris,

I did see a box for sale on the auction site:

    https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ILFORD-FP...-/253207038019

You might try Fred Newman at the VIEW CAMERA STORE. He can sometimes score unusual film sizes:

    https://viewcamerastore.com/collecti...x8-5-25-sheets

Other than that, no I do not know anybody stocking FP4+ in Whole Plate size.

The obvious place to try is the list of dealers who participated in the special order this year. Possibly some of them ordered a few extra boxes for stock.

I was in discussion with the people who make the NP films...(name??) they said they could supply me with whole plate and it's worth checking although I prefer to use FP4

Hi Peter - could you let us know if this information is contemporary?

Banse & Grohmann [Wephota.de] never responded - this was 7 years ago.

I'm in a similar predicament to Chris having run out of whole plate film. Possibly worse, since it is harder to source in the United Kingdom, than it is in the USA. Definitely worse, after acquired 3 boxes of Ilford FP4+ in whole plate from the USA 2 years ago and finding the film suffered under very humid storage conditions leading to the emulsion sticking sheet to sheet.

Jimi - NP15/22 are not directly related to Orwo film - they are coated and cut by the Wephota team. Bergger [France] had a beautiful short-lived collaboration producing fine art NP15 in roll format film - it never survived to make it into large format or plate format. Its nominal ISO of 25 and extremely fine grain was just delightful.

I missed the Bergger 100 whole plate film [USA?] which was more recent. Foma I've not had any luck in finding either. The Shanghai ISO 100 film venture listed here recently opens up another venue for whole plate film.

Back to shooting sub-miniature 35mm film format until the whole plate situation changes...

    Kind regards,

    RJ

    Dear Banse and Grohmann

I found your details on the internet and note that you are able to stock Wephota sheet film [Planfilm]

Are you able to supply Wephota NP15 in 6 1/2 x 8 1/2 inch [whole plate] format?

If you are, could you please contact me?

    Thank you.

    Re: Whole Plate Film

Daniel, thanks for the link but at that price plus shipping is too much.
Oren, I did check with Badger Graphic since that is who I buy it from but they didn't list any. I haven't checked any others.
Peter, what are NP films? I too prefer using Fp4 and next year I will buy much more. For now I will use what I have and if I can't live without it I'll buy the 8x10 from Badger and cut it down. I can also use my 5x7...
    Thanks for the responses.

    Re: Whole Plate Film

NP is probably OrWo (Original Wolfen) film - have a look at http://www.filmotec.de to get contact details.

EDIT: Or perhaps, on second thought, Wephota. (they are doing confectioning, not a film producer per se) -> http://www.wephota.de

Foma makes film in plate sizes, if you can accept a substitute.

    Chris,

Contact Freestyle at info@freestylephoto.biz. They indicated on their Facebook page that Ilford has a little extra Whole Plate FP4+ left. Delivery would be early in 2018.
