I read somewhere a while back it could have to do with dust that is in the calibration area when the scanner turns on. I've gotten into the habit of cleaning the edges before turning it on and that seems to fix the issue... Of course, if you've already tried that then I have no further suggestions
Yup, cleaned the bar scanner, light bar, and the calibration area under it. It's an old Epson 1640 XL that's just past its prime, but still doing sort of okay. I figure it was made around 1890-1900, so it fits in with the rest of my photography stuff...

    My son.
    Kodak ektar 127mm/f4.7 wide open,
    speed graphic,
    fomapan 100 4X5 sheet,
    HB110-B.
This ektar lens was a bonus when I bought an used speed graphic camera from ebay, but it surprised me when i first time to use it last weekend.

Very nice! I wish I had more LF shots of my kids. Looks like people wind up having those 127mm lenses from other cameras. It's like have a collection of 50mm by buy 35mm bodies and it comes with a 50. I'm a big fan of those Kodak lenses.
