Thread: Received my Chamonix 45H-1

    Received my Chamonix 45H-1

I am attaching some pictures as well.

First, this is a work of art! Both in looks and engineering! Absolutely impressed beyo d words on this camera. Its entire operatio. Is smooth and flawless and the controls are quite good. The ground glass back is freaking bright! I can see it in full room light when I cocused on my tv. Usually the Toyo was really dim.

Unless I am mistaken, it is made of carbon fiber and wood except for the gears and focusing rails and bellows. Did I mention it is light? Like when I picked it up, I was not sure it was a real camera.

Cannot wait to use it. Sadly, I only got one film holder. Will need to get a bunch more. They are works of art too!

    Hats of to Hugo!

Beautiful camera. How long did it take to arrive, and was the tracking information accurate? Thanks.

Took a week and everything was accurate

Here are two more shots of the camera. Look closely at the ground glass. You can see the image in it of my tv I focused on. This is in very bright light and the picture doesn't do it justice. The reflections from the lights in the room make it a bit hard to see, but you get the point.

I would be interested to know your choice of lenses on this new camera. What is the longest lens you expect to use?

I also own a Chamonix 45h-1 as well. You can comfortably use a 300mm lens (in my case a Nikkor 300 f9).
I'm very happy with the camera.

I also own a 45f1 which has a little bit more extension but is more fiddly to set up. The front standard on the more recent 45f2 model looks more stable.

If I can figure it out, I would like to use an 11 3/4 in Heliar on it. But if not I stoll plan to use a more modern 300mm.

So true! I bought a Chamonix 45-F2 6 weeks ago and the ground glass is a piece of cake to focus without loupe. This is much better than my Sinar F2 in the nineties. Thus far I didnít even bother to get me a cloth, the Chamonix carbon folding viewer suffices and works as a good ground glass protector, very thin too

And the 45F cameras are even lighter!
