    I think you have to be practical when looking for 'equivalent' lenses in 8x10. Mainly because there are fewer focal lengths available for 8x10, and some of those are much rarer than others and therefore may be hard to find. Personally I would just get a 240 or a 300 based on the best deal I could get and what was available. If you get too picky you could wait a long time for the right lens at the right price.

    Take a look at the series of portraits I've done with a 300mm Nikkor f5.6 and an 8x10 Deardorff.....

    Don't forget that depth of field is less as magnification increases. For subjects at infinity, magnification is frequently left out of the equations and on-line calculators. This is a huge error when it comes to Large Format film. As the film size gets closer to the subject size, magnification is a big player in shallow depth of field. A larger negative will always have a larger 'm' (magnification) factor in the DOF equation.
