    Hektor 300mm f2.8

4 elements in triplet configuration. Apparently this is the second generation one. Works on 8x10. There is a 300mm f2.5 Hektor as well but I got this one cheap, so...

Yeah I was doubtful of a Hektor 300/2.5 but apparently there was one. The more common but higher focal length f2.5 I've seen are the 200mm f2.5. This 300mm f2.5 one is from Lukas Wawrzinek.

Anyway studiochrom do you have any 5x7 or 8x10 pics regarding 300/2.8 ? Mine is really for 8x10 with 6x6 board, but I have no subject at the moment.

I have a 200/2.5 Hektor from an old Leica Pradovit 35mm slide projector, so they definitely went beyond 175mm for the f/2.5 Hektors. I have held it up to my Ebony to confirm it would cover at portrait distances (maybe further, I was testing inside), but I haven't figured out how to mount it. If I ever wanted to really use it, I'd probably be better off with a Sinar and shutter. I've seen images online from the 200/2.5 that others have used for portraits, they seem quite nice if you want super shallow depth of field.

youre completly right. it went up to 200mm (175mm F 2.5, 200mm F2.5, 250mm F2.8, 300mm F2.8). at least thats what i found on a semi official leica page back then. been a couple of years.

i worked with the 250mm version most in 5x7 and 8x10 (it does cover it). never used the 300mm though since it was to big for my lensboard back then.

hmm...the F2.5 300mm one looks strange, never heard ot it and sizewise it looks rather the same size as the F2.8 (judging from the small picture). would love to see more pictures of, especially a size comparison with the F2.8 version..

Yeah I NEVER HEARD of 300mm f2.5 hektor either. I wrestled with its existence for about two years now. Lukas finally caved in and post the picture, I guess I will ask him to post a video for proof. But yes, I have never stumbled on Hektor 250mm f2.5 either; the closest I got is two Buhl 240mm f2.5 (they have the same optical configuration as Hektor btw) and they covers 8x10 just fine, at least for portrait-distance.

Look like Lukas' video of 300/2.5 Hektor is a no-show at the moment.

Anyway here is my Hektor 300/2.8 on 8x10 C1 and its shutter

    interesting graflex use there.

i kinda stopped working with the hektors because it was really 'to fast' at some point. i mean when you start out with wetplates you want every F stop you can get when it comes to shortening the exposure times. after a while though, after you fine tune your chimestry, there is not such a need for a low stop, and working at this apertures is always 'not easy' because of the razor thin DOF. but i really enjoyed it back then. its a special lens, really crispy sharp in the center (if you can manage to focus it right).
