LF Shops - colorado Springs area

First off, thanks to everyone's suggestions on palces to go shooting around Colorado Springs. Much appreciated.

Are there any camera shops with LF gear worth looking at either in Colorado Springs or in the area? Anything inside a couple hour drive to me will be "in the area" after a 3 day drive to get there in the first place.
    thanks

Not sure what they have, but you might give Shewmaker's on Tejon st. a call.
If you're really ok with a 2 hour drive, you could try Denver.

Denver is pretty thin on good camera shops.

The Camera Trader is kind of fun, they have all sorts of used gear in all formats and sell new gear as well. Downtown Denver has Werners Mile High Camera which is about the only place I can think of that stocks any decent LF gear. There may be others but I buy all my stuff on line as the selection and prices are much better. If I think of anymore I will post them.

    Have a nice trip.

    Hey Eric,

Mile High Camera closed over a year ago.

You haven't been downtown in a while have you? :^)

    Cheers,

    Mark,

Oh geeeeeeeze! As you can tell, nope. We need a good LF store in the Front Range, I really don't know of any (obvious).

There's not much to choose from in the Springs. CameraWorks on North Academy at Union will have a few used lenses and such. I saw a Crown Graphic there once, but that's about it. Last time I was in Shewmakers on Tejon, they had remodeled the place and it seemed that digital pushed out large and most medium format. Gotta display what sells, I guess.

I know this is an old thread but I thought I'd provide some relevant info. I moved back to the Springs from Denver a couple years ago. Definitely less to chose from down here. I'm not sure if Camera Works is around anymore. Its a bit out of the way for me.

I use Accent on Centenial for my E-6 and C-41 development. They're OK, but it would be nice to have more choices and they do not process silver B&W. They've done my E-6 just fine, but are either not particularly knowledgable or don't want to make adjustments. I asked to have some C-41 pushed and they told me it can't be done.

Schewmakers is a horrible chain for the most part. IMO, they're milking an old reputation and not backing it up. They have newer owners from what I understand. I won't do business with them unless there is something I need in a hurry AND Godec's doesn't have AND I don't want to have shipped (like a single Cokin adapter ring).

Godec's on Weber is a nice little shop. A packrat kinda place. Its just south of Pikes Peak. Someone does film development for them, but I don't know who it is. They can process 4X5 in E-6, C-41 and B&W and they sell a little bit of 4X5 film. They don't really sell LF stuff on a regular basis though. They have a little consignment section worth looking through. I've bought a couple of consignment M-42 Pentax lenses in there for fair prices.

Ultimately, like Eric, I've found that you need to go online to get much selection in the front range. I've used Badger and B&H for most of my stuff. I like Badger better for many things.
