View Camera Forum - what's happened?

Just tried logging on to the View Camera Forum - and the information header states that there are no forums! I also tried access through the magazine web site and same result. Has this resource disappeared?

    Paul,

They've been hacked, apparently more than once. There have been threads on this topic either here or at PN.

Yes, we have been hacked. We are working on the problem.

At least no one chimed in with comments about egregious censorship. ;-)

View Camera Forum - what's happened?

Seems like there were a few other PHP message boards - Lenswork + Canon Digital Photography Forums - that were hacked in the last few months because of not updating security patches.

http://www.vbulletin.com/ would be my vote if I were to have a forum as Canon Digital Photography Forums - http://photography-on-the.net/forum/ - switched over to it after the hack. It seems quite fast and stable.

    Just my two cents.

I believe Tom intended to make the software behind this forum open-source.

The main problem with the open source thing is that I don't really have any spare time to support it outside of what I do here, but if Steve wants a copy, I imagine we could work something out.

View Camera Forum - what's happened?

I am placing a new answer here because my other post and the resulting thread were deleted by the forum moderator.

The View Camera forum is now back up and in operation. We were down about a week because of a hack job, In order tomake sure we are as secure as possible we will ask that people register again. You make up your own password and it will remain in lace as long as you want it to. The same rules apply - disagreements are fine but no character assassination or vulgar or abusive name calling will be allowed. As before, If I want to quote anything on the forum I will ask the author's permission before doing so.

I am still the owner and publisher of View Camera. I sold CameraArts.
