    North Carolina large format groups

    Morning,

After a recent trip to the Lenoir, NC area, my wife and I have decided to buy a home in the area. 20 miles from the Blue Ridge Parkway, 45 min. to Grandfather Mt., Mt. Mitchel, 1 & 1/2 hrs. to the Smoky Mt. N. P.

I'm wondering if there are any large format groups in western North Carolina? Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Bob

    North Carolina large format groups

Bob, I'm from the Raleigh area and I don't know of specific large format groups in the Lenoir area. I do know that the Carolina's Nature Photography Association, url is www.cnpa.org, has an active regional group in the Asheville area and is listed on their web site. There are also several large format nature photographers in the Southeast Nature Photographers regional group on the Nature Photographers Network. The url for this site is www.naturephotographers.net. You might want to go to this site and post your question. Hope this helps.

There is (or was) a "Western Carolina Large Format Group," but due to a computer virus disaster I am no longer able to access the list of guys in it. If you check the archives (here and photo.net) I think that you'll find a contact person.

The Western Carolina group was a Yahoo! group and is now defunct - has been for probably a year or more.

    Bob,

There's a good contingent of WNC photographers at the Southeast nature Photographers/Nature Photographers Network here:

I think most of the Carolina guys are digital/small format, but there's a group of us in SENP that use view cameras.

You can check out several shots from the nearby Blue Ridge and Smokies regularly on the Earth, Sea, and Sky, and Man and Nature forums of NPN.

Re: North Carolina large format groups

    HELLO,
Seems no one in North Carolina shoot large format!? I am in Matthews, shoot, collect, repair or refurbish old wood cameras.
Would like to hear from anyone in the area who shoots LF.
