That's how one learns to appreciate fine art.

    Bill,

Did not see your post before I did mine. If I had I would have chimed in here. The book is excellent. I have had three Public Libraries in nearby towns order and get it - along with Q.T. Luong's TREASURED LANDS. Hoping if I help getting excellent work in them a few more folks will be able to see it.

Re: The Most Beautiful Photography Book I've Ever Seen

I gave up trying to figure out who used what camera or whether it was film or digital a long time ago. If the imagery appeals to me then I am interested. If the artist has a style that I like I tend to buy his/her books or photographs. If Photoshop was part of it then so be it.

I like what little I have seen of Jack Spencer's work so far. Thanks for the heads up.

We have an editioned print of Spencer's "Cooter in the corn with his horn" hanging in the studio. Everyone who sees it loves it.

A friend put me onto Spencer's work a few years ago. He's been around for a while, and his early work was pre-digital. He's not a real dynamic speaker, but for some insight into his philosophy and methods, this video is helpful:

FWIW, I find his lack of discussion of technical issues refreshing.

I think it's a wonderful book also, I highly recommend it. He does a nice job of showing things with a fresh set of eyes and techniques.
