    Gitzo 2271M head

This is the current Gitzo compact 3 way head:

Has anyone used one of these? I use a Technika IV and want to replace my very heavy tripod and head with a better one for traveling, but I want a rigid head-tripod linkage.

It is light and it works. Rotation is ok, front to back tilt must be carefully controled. Be sure to hold the camera with one hand. Changing to vertical orientation is probably a stress for a technika unless it has a back to rotate vertical or a tripod socket on the side for verticals. Other wise you put the center of gravity off to the left side.

Personally I would use this for a 2 1/4 or 35mm. I have one of these heads.
