I liked your article. For such a broad topic you hit the important points.
"Good composition is sort of like pornography. You know it when you see it."
That I'll remember ;>)
Michael,
Nice article. Several things come to mind that I didn't notice on a fast reading:
1) Difficulties of shooting food on location, especially in restaurants. The absolute necessity of scouting the location in advance to insure taht your equipment (especially available lenses) match the shooting space and distances available.
2) Some discussion of when you want to shoo the real food and when and how and what to use for substitutes when the real thing is not the best choice.
"How to shoot food"?
I usually use a rifle.
Sorry . . . . ;-)
I was gonna respond to the original question, but I guess CJ was faster on the draw...
When I was a kid, "Quaker Oats" were purportedly shot from cannons, although this seems at odds with their pacifist philosophy...
"I love my Verito lens, but I always have to sharpen everything in Photoshop..."
Umm...it was Puffed Rice and/or Puffed Wheat. And it was "Shot from guns".
Why can I remember that cereal slogan from 35 years ago yet I can't remember what I went into the other room for?
...as soon as I remember where I left them!
