Extreme pinhole photography. I rather like the results.

    Straw Camera

    Cool idea...

The straw camera is an innovative analogue camera made by collaborators Mick Farrell and Cliff Haynes. The camera is a box filled with 32,000 drinking straws (or layers of corrugated plastic in another version).

Here is the "official" site, with more details - alas, one of the artists passed away in 2015:

    Is the 'Straw Camera' patentable?

I'm sure the images are copyright protected.

Is this process protectable, like the 'Ken Burns Effect'? Which seems protected in name only...

From Wikipedia, "Steve Jobs contacted Burns to obtain the filmmaker's permission to use the term "Ken Burns Effect" for Apple's video production software (the description had been Apple's internal working title while the feature was in development). Burns initially declined, saying that he did not allow his name to be used for commercial purposes. Instead, Burns had Jobs give him "some equipment which we give to nonprofits" in exchange for permission to use the term in Apple products.[10]

In February 2014, Burns stated in his AMA on Reddit that Steve Jobs "asked my permission. I said yes. And six billion saved wedding, bar mitzvahs, vacation slideshows later, it's still going. But our attempt to wake the dead relies on a much more nuanced and complicated relationship to the photograph (the DNA of storytelling), as well as the soundtrack."[11]"

Interesting, but hard on my eyes. The B/W image was my favourite.

Somebody once called one of my photographs "pointillistic".... Or maybe that was "pointless".

No, seriously, that's a very interesting concept. Kind of like macro fiber optics. I look forward to getting the book.
Imagine if this catches on with the DIY crowd... There will be a run on straws, particularly black ones. Forum debates will erupt over which vintage straw is best.
And waitresses the world over will be apologizing for being out of straws.

Maybe we should hold a straw poll to see...

Definitely an interesting concept. I wonder how smaller diameter, shorter straws would work.... maybe faster/more resolution? I wonder how it would be if a full-sheet fresnel was put in front of it (on the "taking" side).
