Hi,
I've been a member for a few years but didn't get into LF until less than a year ago, when I bought my (first) Chamonix. Shooting large format felt like a natural development from shooting 35 mm and 6x6, but feeling that I really wanted to control perspective and depth of field more. I really, really like using front raise and I'm probably overusing it
I've been photographing for the last 8 years, bought my first camera at 22. My father has been an photography enthusiast for all my life but he went all digital a few years before I picked up my first camera. He had a darkroom in the attic that he used a lot when I grew up, he is a good photographer and his interest in humans is evident in his photography. It's fun to share this passion with him.
I'm a pretty decent printer and mostly print in my kitchen. I have a Omega ProLab 4x5" DV enlarger beside my desktop in another room, I carry it across the apartment when setting everything up. It's surprisingly nice to work at home with it, and takes only 30 minutes to tear down. I've dialed in my RH Designs Analyser Pro to my paper of choice (Adox MCC) which really speeds up the process of printing, but I was a good printer before buying it. I'm just a faster printer now :-)
I develop with a MOD54 which I think is the greatest thing since sliced bread.
I'm looking forward using my 4x5" more, and at some point would like to go up to 5x7" as well - contact printing, gum printing, carbon printing...but still being able to enlarge the negatives relatively easily! I have access to a 13x18 cm enlarger so I'm all set, except for the camera, new development tanks, new holders, film...
Anyways, looking forward to hang out here a lot in the future!
