Vivian Maier: Chicago exhibit Free July 4th closing July 30

I have written of this exhibit before. It closes July 30, 2017. I doubt it compares to the Toronto effort.

But I don't know that and the museum is FREE, not the usual $16, this July 4th.

I will be going. I hope it is a slow day everywhere!

Randy: thanks for your information. I will go there too. BTW, several museums including Chicago history museum are free for Bank of Ameran customers on first full weekend in each month.

Here's a sample of a very odd show and exhibit. They have 18 rolls of Vivian Maier's film. The 'gallery' was small and crowded, not with people, but the way they presented. They hung the 3 X 3 foot inkjet prints very close to each other in a maze. Often the viewing distance was under 18" and maxed at 60". The gallery perimeter was a strip of 5" square images, like a chair rail...

They allow photographing of anything in the museum. I asked twice, they said they 'owned' everything, which may not be true of copyright.

The shots of National Guard 1968 Chicago were of particular interest to me. As I was very near the location and time of Maier's shots.

Randy I can tell you for a fact the Toronto show looks nothing like this . I suspect these prints are from the John Maloof collection . Your Jpegs suggest a very warm tone impression, nothing like the silver prints that Ron Gordon made and mine. They also look like inkjet ? The last image of the Men opening boxes looks like it continues onto a second frame of the same roll?

For the Toronto Show I did make two 50 inch murals that were basically from a strip of 6 35mm images and was very cool to see the progression of shots from the same roll.
