    Wet Packard Shutter

My packard locked up when I got it wet today, its drying out now. Anything to be aware of in terms of long term damage?

Should be fine, they run best clean and dry(no oil/grease). Hit it with a hair dryer (not too close) to speed the drying so nothing rusts. They are very simple shutters. I have one that I found completely rusted in an old burnt out building. I took it apart, scrubbed out the rust, repainted it, and now it works beautifully.

This sometimes happens when the O rings around the shutter lever go bad in Deardorff V8 underwater housings. :-)

It should dry out just fine. As tracy said, I too have had a couple of very rusty ones that I cleaned up as well and it works fine.

    Have fun.

Thanks Tracey and David, it's dry and firing again.

I dont know what the deal is but the CD rom that came with my B&J had really poor directions on how to duct tape up the zip loc bag underwater housing. And trying to work out the bellows extention when you include the refractive index of water, sheesh, you would think they didnt want you to dive with em in the first place. But this is still better than going down with the lap top and the Better Light back.
