From the sublime to one of the more everyday ULF cameras. This is just a detail from one of the plates holders for a 30x40cm reisekamera showing the elegant adapters for 24x30 and 18x24cm plates. No chemical staining, but they were made for wet plates with silver crescent shaped corner pieces. A nice change from the usual silver triangles or silver wire!

A new 12x10" English camera. Sold as a 24cm Studio camera with an early Euryskop IV no.5. With a Lamperti & Garbagnati, Milano brass base plate. No English name plate hidden under this plate, but at the bottom of the rear standard there has been an additional plate. This has been removed long after the original sale date as there is much less grime in the wood where the plate has been.

A nice and well finished camera, but without plate holders at present. The only 12x10" one I have will need adaption.
I can't identify the maker or original retailer in the existing picture galleries, but perhaps someone will recognise some of the more unusual features?

The bellows push in for storage and give a wonderful sound when each section clicks into the rear section. I have included some details of the less common wood and brass details. It is stamped with assembly number "13"!

Wow, Steven, this looks awesome, especially the inside of the base--fantastic wood and finish. Thanks for the hardware details. How does the lensboard frame attach to the front standard? This looks very unusual.

    Enjoy!

Steven, an interesting design. I like how the front standard folds down after the lens board is detached. Simple and effective. Beautiful wood and finish. Thanks for showing this.

Yes, the Ground Glass is 60x60cm - but the real size is 60x50cm. These cameras are so large and the plate holders are so heavy that the horizontal/vertical (portrait/landscape) switch is acheived by moving the plate through 90 degrees in the plate holder. This means the back and plate holder has to be square to accomodate the maximum size in both directions.

This version of the Studio/Graphic arts camera was avaiable up to 80x100cm. A sketch of one, showing the equally impressive adjustable table, is added below.

That camera may have influenced the 1929 Deardorff S11 as the left side metal uprights are very familiar.

The hand wheels are also similarly placed.

Started to rebuild my 11x14 this weekend, version 2 after trudging along with a very un-user friendly version 1 for about a year.Click image for larger version.
