    Buenos dias from Victoria Texas

    Hello all,

I'm new here. Retired college professor and dean, widower, live alone with my faithful Corgi, Clifford. In my youth, before embarking on the academic career, I was a commercial photographer. Did a lot of architectural work and a good bit of studio product photography. (Never did portraits or weddings.) After all these years I've now dusted off my old 4x5 Graflex I View, and, as soon as my little part-time teaching obligation ends intend to take off in my Airstream Interstate to see if I can make a few decent images. Plan to be in Big Bend National Park at Christmas and Palo Duro Canyon early in the Spring. Pacific Northwest later in the year. You can guess my heroes: Edward Weston and Ansel Adams. :-)

Well, you're in good company here! If I might suggest, practice a little with the camera before hitting the road, you wouldn't want some stupid technical goof to ruin a bunch of photos from a trip. It's easy to make a bone-headed mistake like loading all your film backwards, etc. Or are you planning on developing en-route so you'll catch any mistakes as you go?
