eboney wide angle fresnel vs. maxwell fresnel? 47

    hi,

would the ebony wide angle fresnel do as good of a job in evenly illuminating the light as the maxwell fresnel and screeen (using the 47 xl)?

for those using the ebony wide fresnel with the 47, any comments?

    thanx

eboney wide angle fresnel vs. maxwell fresnel? 47

    sammy,

The Ebony wide angle versus the standard Maxwell? The Ebony of course. Maxwell does make wide angle fresnels though.

I've had the standard Maxwell fresnel and prefer the standard Ebony. Although the Maxwell is indeed a bit brighter, it's more difficult to focus in dim light because it is finer and the focus doesn't have the "pop" that the standard Ebony does.

I also use the Ebony wide angle fresnel with a 65mm lens w/o any problem at all. It's good up to about 135mm, where I can't tell much of a difference in the Ebony wide angle fresnel and the Ebony standard fresnel.

    Steve et. al.,

Who else makes a WA fresnel / GG unit? I want to get one for my Shen Hao and mount in an additional gg frame from the factory. I have a normal / long fresnell/gg from beattie, but need a wide one for my 65 and soon to purchase 90.

Perhaps the Ebony unit will even fit my Shen Hao?

eboney wide angle fresnel vs. maxwell fresnel? 47

    thanx steve,

on these boards, i've read a lot of positive things about the maxwell screen. ebony is the only maker that i have seen that deals with the "wide-angle-lens-viewing-problem". maybe because they make the 45sw.

the maxwell has "HI-LUX Wide Angle screen (a specialty screen for use with wide angle lenses)", as well as (i think), an extreme wide angle screen.......is this what you have? your saying that i am just better off using the ebony with thier wide angle fresnel (only $75)......the maxwell would be quite an expense. I read how hard it is to focus using the 47 xl.
