If you don't believe it, look into an 8x10 viewfinder!

actually most of the wooden Graflex cameras were made out of mahogany, not basswood (which is nice for carving but not as strong). Frankly, unless you really enjoy fabrication, just get one on ebay. There are several sellers. Wood/metal, new/vintage - lots of choices.
The last one I picked up for my RB Auto had to be beveled so you my still need to do some mods to the ebay ones as well.
