    Broken promises?

Recently I followed the thread of Upcoming changes for the FS/WTB sub-forum.
    Remember the promise in it?
"You may post your feedback about these proposed changes in this thread for the next 10 days. After that point, this thread will be closed, and the moderators will consider your suggestions. We anticipate the changes will be implemented approximately 10 days after this thread is closed. We also anticipate that it will be necessary to close the FS/WTB sub-forum for a short period while the changes are being made."
Well, the thread was open for 4 days only, then closed.
A broken promise with bad aftertaste. Didn't come as a surprise though. Which makes things even worse.

Well, "diminishing returns" and attacks on the moderators will do that...

I don't see any attacks on moderators there, just a legitimate tendency to touch problems where they are.

Too many people started commenting without reading the interim responses, taking the discussion in circles by re-plowing ground already covered. No sense in continuing to beat horses already slain for another six days. I think Rick will be working on a summary of points discussed in order to start a new discussion thread for additional, fresh comments and suggestions. But, that will take some time to construct.

Suck it up, Doc. You are picking on a particular without studying the scope of the whole discussion. Crazy, eh?

    Re: Broken promises?

I, too, noticed the abrupt termination that came much earlier than the 10 day promise.
    There was reasonable cause, however.

Oftentimes, the type of thread in question reads like a broken record without progressing beyond a certain level. I don't envy the moderators having to take action and then suffer the consequences of further complaint for their supervision.

Perhaps, it would be reasonable to provide a standard reminder
when introducing a thread inviting commentary on policy....

"Subject to closure when the purpose has been fulfilled or otherwise, when necessary, at the determination of the powers that be."

It's very clear from experience on this and other forums...
The moderators must act as called for and as they deem necessary.
    That's the responsibility they accept.
I know just enough to be dangerous !

Promises, promises... Thanks to the moderators for keeping things under control and closing a thread when it became unproductive and potentially damaging to the forum.

    Re: Broken promises?

Thanks, guys. Let's let this one be. We (moderators) have some work to do, and we appreciate everyone's input in the other thread with the many viewpoints shared and ideas proposed to help us sort this out.
