Conversion for a bigger size with Beseler 67CII

    Hi folks,

I have acquired last year a Beseler 23CII enlarger in great shape, the only thing I could complain is that the fright to where I live have been 9X the enlarger price!
But now I have the need to process those 4x5 negatives and need an enlarger bigger then this, so the question is if it would be possible to convert this enlarger in a 4x5 one, replacing the enlarger head or something like that. I know the frame of the 45XL is more stable, but I can make some iron work here and fix the enlarger on the wall if needed. Any advice would be very appreciated

    Thanks,

    Renato

A Besseler 23c can be converted to 4x5 - do a search on APUG - there are a couple of threads on how to do it.

I have a 23CIII in front of me.
To convert this enlarger on a 4x5" one, my guess is that you should modify almost every single part of it.
The hole at the film stage is barely 12 centimeters in diameter, and the bellows draw is designed for 105mm lenses. So it could be a very difficult task (maaaany other problems aside) to have it with full capabilities.
Don`t waste your time and your enlarger; use it for smaller formats, and buy a real 4x5". I know it could be really difficult in some places.

Found this thread at APUG - http://www.apug.org/forums/forum216/...-led-head.html

The conversion is irreversible, so, thinking of selling my 23CIIXL locally to finance a new 4x5 enlarger.

    Thank you for your help,

    Cheers,

    Renato
