    Mervyn O'Gorman Autochromes

    These eight autochromes are hauntingly beautiful. I thought I'd pass this on.

    The original plates were made in 1913.

    The Lady in Red.

    What a cool process, and color brings these turn of the century people alive in my mind.

    These get wheeled out from time to time and always cause a bit of a stir ... And rightly so, of course.

    A friend of mine posted one on facebook, without further info, asking people to guess the date ... Almost all the answers were 1960s/70s/80s

    The national Geographic Society has something like 11,000 Autochromes. A lot (maybe all) have been digitized. Here are the ones on Tumblr:
