Yikes! My compound lost it's socket!

The socket where the cable release screws into the shutter has vanished. Is this and easy do it myself fix? If so, any suggestions on where I can buy the neccesary part? Or will this require a trip to Grimes in order to be made usable again? A delightfully old bubbly glass 12" Goerz Dagor lives in this shutter so IMHO its definatly worth fixing. Thanks!

Not an unusual problem. I had Grimes replace one when they did a CLA on a Compound shutter that I have.

Make sure you actually lost it , it might be still screwed in your cable release.
From now on i will always keep lens and cable separated when not in use.

Don't send it to grimes. They wanted to charge me fourty dollars just to tell me they couldn't fix it. I had the same problem.

Hey hey! I just got my old Dagor back from Carol Miller at Flutot's Camera with a cable release socket in place! A happy ending to the saga of this old lens!
