Looking for something to do this weekend? Southwestern Pa. near Pittsburgh.

Have you been to this before? How are they about large tripods, etc…? Someone mentioned this at photo club Monday night (and others have gone before and got great shots, but all digital). The town of Brownsville is also supposedly fairly photogenic as a nearly abandoned town. I've been meaning to get down there. So you know, the forecast for this area is 50% chance of thunderstorms all weekend.

Karen used to live nearby, and has been there many times, and told me about it last night. I don't think there would be any issues with tripods, I am taking my 4x5 and Fuji 690. I would drag the 11x14 along, but it still needs a bit of tweaking, plus I only have one film holder for it. We are going to chance the weather.
You should attend, bring the family, we would love to meet y'all in person, I bet the "L'il man" would be blown away with it.

I wish my dad was down here for it - he'd LOVE it as his family used to own Utica Steam Engine and Boiler Company (and also McCoy Iron). Being a mechanical engineer, he has a thing for such stuff.
I don't know if I can talk Ken into going, but I'll try. Weekends are his only time to work on the cars and go to car shows. Nate will get a huge kick out of it, though, and it's fairly close to us.

It appears that I was the only film shooter at the show(that I could spot). Heavy rains in the early morning kept the huge crowds away, but by early afternoon, sunny and not packed with people. Nearly everyone there was friendly toward my tripod and cameras, with the exception of one person with a teensy-weensy digisnapper, I ignored him and was patient to get my shots without him standing in front of me. Classic and antique autos, ancient farm and industrial equipment, operating saw mill, steam shovels, etc.
Next weekend for the event is in August, hope to see a few of you then.

I haven't developed them, yet, but I did shoot two 4x5 frames of a steam engine. A couple of clueless type comments, but nothing rude. I doubt most people even saw what I was doing. While walking around, my 4x5 was in a grey backpack and fairly invisible, though I was carrying a tripod and my dSLR.

The big shovels were cool! (I grew up hearing the MaryAnn the steam shovel story)
