A really great bag for lenses or ??????

I came across the "Reel and Gear Bag" at Orvis some months ago and immediately thought, "wow, this is as well made as Justin Gnass' stuff and would be great for lenses or for a few lenses and a small 4x5. I finally got one and you can look at a picture of it here http://homepage.mac.com/tedharris/OrvisBag.htm filled with 9 lenses ranging from 75mm to 450mm all on Technika/Wista boards. The case has nice foam padding, a good handle, a decent strap, good movable dividers, etc. Overall I find it a very good value for $59.00 and like everything from Orvis it is well made and has a lifetime guarantee. Comes in this color and burnt orange.

The interior dimensions are 10 x 14 x 6+. I was so excited at how well it works I wanted to post a picture right away. I think you can easily fit a smaller field camera and a few lenses and a meter in there as well. I casually laid my Walker Titan axross the bag and it will fit and leave a bit of room for a few extras, maybe two lenses but so far this is the only configuration I have tried. I dearly love Justin Gnass' stuff and have some of it but this is just too goo d a value not to share.

    ted...

thanks so much for posting that bag. it looks like a great size for 4x5 gear.

for anyone needing to hear it twice, orvis makes a VERY good product.

i use a top loading bag, this would serve as a perfect insert, and it's cheaper that the pelican padded divider, whick doesn't even close shut.

    Ted:

You have too many lenses... send me some!

I too like Justin's case, but wish it had a strap for toting around when I take off the backpack.

Ted, just out of curiousity, what are the focal length spacings on those nine bad boys?

Does it come with the steel chain and cuff to lock it to your wrist while traveling? That's keeping a lot of eggs in one basket.

Smiling to everyone ... just filled it up fast to show it off.

    Jim .... The full progression is 75 f5.6 SA - 90 6.8 Caltar II N - 110 SS XL - 135 APo Sironar S - 150 Apo Symmar - 180 Caltar II N - 210 f4.5 Docter Tessar - 240 Fujinon A - 300 Fujinon A - 360 Docter Apo Germinar - Nikkor 450 M. The 90 and the 360 are not in the bag ... on cameras. I am likely to get rid of either the 135 or 150 soon and I have seldom used the 350 since I got the 300.
