Tom Westbrook's recent post concerning the look of inkjet prints that he viewed at a show was posted under the "digital" category but I wonder if its not really more about artistic judgement. Here is a thread from photo.net that might be interesting to read:

Instead of commenting on the lack of quality of inkjet prints being shown, this thread is about darkroom prints and printed magazine reproductions of questionable quality. (sort of Holgaish large format prints with brutal burning techniques) As far as I can tell this is how this guy prints - its his chosen style. (not my cup of tea!) I've settled for myself, long ago, that the print is the final answer on whether it is "good" or not. The method of reproduction is not important to me - you take your pick and make great prints or not.
